General Practitioner
Over 25 years
Dr Paul Mulcrone is a general practitioner with an interest in joint injections, dermatology and prostate screening.
He completed Medical School at the University of Dundee in 1998.
After completing various hospital posts in the North East of England and Australia,he moved towards General Practice and graduated from the GP Cleveland VTS Scheme in 2004 also passing the MRCGP.
He worked locally at Yarm Medical Centre as a GP partner for 17 years, then in 2022 moved into his current role as a private GP 2 days a week and the remaining week works as a NHS GP.
While working at Yarm was Clinical Director of the Primary Care Network covering Yarm, Eaglescliffe, Ingleby Barwick and Stillington and also worked as part of the Teesside Clinical Commissioning Group developing links to the local hospitals.
Dr Mulcrone believes in shared decision making with his patients and is committed to delivering the best quality of care and experience to all his patients.
Dr Mulcrone enjoys the ability privately to offer his patients longer appointments, giving them more time to express their health concerns and come up with a shared management plan.
Dr Mulcrone also enjoys the continuity of care private medicine gives you which has been sadly lost on the NHS.
Privately Dr Mulcrone is able to give patients access to investigations such as blood tests, imaging or onward referral quickly and hopefully either reassurance or an answer to the patient’s symptoms.
Outside of work Dr Mulcrone’s main interest is football although his team is Everton. He also enjoys walking his dog a working cocker spaniel at the weekends.
He has now moved into the role of also offering health assessments at Woodlands. These take place from our Outpatient Department every Friday morning. Dr Mulcrone enjoys carrying these out from a preventative medicine viewpoint.
